When talking about rooftop infinity pools, the first thing that comes to your mind would probably be the infinity pool at Marina Bay Sands Sky Park in Singapore - the world’s largest rooftop infinity pool. Yes, it’s spectacular and world-renowned!
According to Wikipedia, an infinity pool is a reflecting or swimming pool where the water flows over one or more edges, producing a visual effect of water with no boundary. Such pools are often designed such that the edge appears to merge with a larger body of water such as the ocean, or with the sky. They are often seen at resorts, estates, and in other luxurious places.
An infinity pool is absolutely a luxurious water feature that most people would dream to have. Even just looking at the photos of those eye-catching infinity pools, it will make you want to take a dip in! Imagine yourself doing a backstroke in a rooftop infinity pool, floating and looking up at the blue sky; or leaning against the pool edge and looking down on the magnificent city-skyline from above. What a spectacular photo-taking spot!
As a professional pool tile supplier, Bluwhale Tile has supplied a lot of pool tiles to a lot of customers. Below is a hotel swimming pool project from one of our customers, which was just finished not long ago. It’s a rooftop infinity pool. Now let’s take a look.
What’s the magic of infinity pools? It’s all about blurring the line between man-made(the pool edge) and natural(the ocean, the sky or mountain, etc).
This infinity-edge pool above, framing the view, makes it look as if you could swim right into the ocean. Because the color of the blue pool tiles that are used in this pool makes the pool water look very much alike the ocean, and now the ocean becomes an extension of the pool! Imagine swimming in this pool, you’d feel like you don’t really know where in the world you are.
An infinity pool is perhaps best appreciated by helicopter from above. However, you can also get a grand view from just lying on the lounge chairs, preferably with a cocktail in hand maybe? With the pool brimming and becoming a beautiful mirror for the sky, intensifying the beauty of the ocean in the distance, yet meanwhile, the ocean looks so close, it feels like you can just stretch out your hand and touch it.
It’s a great view on the roof, yet the infinity pool design makes it even better! This rooftop space has got almost all the amenities you need. Although it’d be better if there are umbrellas for the loungers. But it doesn’t stop this space from being an outdoor retreat. Now this is where I want to spend my summer! It makes me want to swim...forever! Infinity!
Sometimes little things can make big differences in decoration. And I think, “the sci-fi effect” of the decorative globes in the pool is the finishing touch and makes this pool unique and inviting!
The repeating pool mosaics and the refraction of lights make it look like the the balls are floating and moving in the water. The globes look so dynamic in the light!
